Beethoven in a new interpretation - Emmanuel Tjeknavorian conducts the Great Fugue
Once again, Beethoven's compositional genius is reflected in the Great Fugue op. 133. "To make a fugue," he is reported to have said, "is not an art; I made dozens of them in my student days. But the imagination also wants to assert its right, and today another, a truly poetic element must come into the old traditional form." It is precisely this poetry that Emmanuel Tjeknavorian takes up in his fresh interpretation of the technically highly demanding work in a version for string orchestra. With him: probably the best string players of this country.
