Francesco Tristano

»Mr Gershwin, music is music.« This quote by avant-garde composer Alban Berg to George Gershwin, who took Broadway by storm with his songs but felt inferior to European composers, inspired Francesco Tristano. Born in Luxembourg in 1981, the pianist studied at the Juilliard School, where he learnt to appreciate the music of Bach in particular. Classical music combined with techno - this idea is in the background when he combines his virtuosity with computer-generated music. In his »sound:chat« concert on piano and synthesiser, he combines music by Bach, Berio, Gershwin and Stravinsky with his own compositions.
