Opening concert of the 38th International Musik Festival

For the opening concert of the 38th International Musik Festival, the Vienna Philharmonic under Daniel Barenboim will bathe the Wiener Konzerthaus in a light of fascinating orchestral colour. Boulez‘«Notations» with their richness in shade and light were clearly inspired by the iridescence of the colours of the French Impressionists. Alongside Boulez’s work, Barenboim will conduct a selection of symphonic poems by Smetana — including the musical portrayal of the course of the Moldova.

Anja Harteros

Paris, Dresden, Salzburg – the Metropolitan Opera in New York, the Royal Opera House Covent Garden or La Scala in Milan: the Greek-German soprano Anja Harteros is at home in all of the world’s great opera houses. But in addition to her love for opera, Anja Harteros also burns with a passion for the more intimate — and less high-profile — genre of Lied. An entire universe in just three minutes – that is what makes the Art Songs of Franz Schubert and Robert Schumann so fascinating for musicians and audiences alike.
