Winter Journey
Franz Schubert's »Winterreise« is considered by many to be the Mount Everest of romantic song creation. Especially if one feels more attracted to the dark abysses of the epoch than to its light and lovely sides. Pain, loneliness, disorientation and alienation are the themes of Wilhelm Müller's poems, and love has its place only as unhappy. Schubert himself called it a »cycle of gruesome songs« and irritated his friends with this compilation. German tenor Maximilian Schmitt and pianist Gerold Huber, both experts on the Romantic era and Schubert alike, interpret this gripping song cycle.
