Dream duet for Pergolesi

»The most perfect and touching thing that has ever flowed from the pen of any musician«, Jean-Jacques Rousseau raved about the opening duet of Pergolesi's Stabat mater. And the way in which the soprano and alto voices rise here in bittersweet secondary rhythms above the striding eighth bass is really hard to beat in terms of quiet drama and internalized lament. A freestyle for the Polish countertenor Jakub Józef Orliński and the Egyptian soprano Fatma Said, who lend their angelic voices to perhaps the best-known work by the prematurely deceased Pergolesi in the debut of the original sound ensemble Il Giardino d'Amore. Orliński, long a star in »primo uomo heaven« and at the same time a passionate break dancer and sought-after model, also exerts an unusual fascination on young audiences through his strong presence in social media. Said, for her part, regularly uses her international fame for social and political engagement. A dazzling pair, then, that will breathe a youthful freshness into Pergolesi's music.
