A musical memory album
Today, people like to give an album with souvenir photos as a birthday present. In it, the life of the person celebrating the anniversary is reviewed: almost forgotten origins, various stations, friends. Ibrahim Maalouf has given himself such an album for his 40th birthday in November 2020, but not with pictures, but musical memories. Forty melodies from different contexts were recorded by the trumpeter, who was born in Beirut and lives in Paris, in the album with which he is now touring. In contrast to previous albums, this is a rather intimate one, namely a duo with his longtime musical companion François Delporte on guitar. But other musical friends also left their mark on it, as did the different worlds of East and West in which Maalouf is at home.
