On the way to the classical piano concerto
A harmonious program with baroque arias and classical instrumental concertos awaits the audience at this concert by the Vienna Chamber Orchestra under the direction of Ustina Dubitsky, winner of the international conducting competition »La Maestra« 2022. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's concertos K 107 represent an important step on the way to the development of the classical piano concerto. Their piano part is based on piano sonatas by Johann Christian Bach, whom Mozart became close acquainted with in London in the mid-1760s and who had a significant musical influence on him. By adding string parts, the 15-year-old Mozart expanded Bach's sonatas into instrumental concertos. The pianist Elias Keller, who performs two of these concertos with the Vienna Chamber Orchestra, is only slightly older and, despite his young age, already internationally successful. Mezzo-soprano Patricia Nolz, a member of the Vienna State Opera ensemble since the 2022/23 season and »Great Talent« of the Wiener Konzerthaus in the 2023/24 season, will sing »Laudate dominum« from Mozart's »Vesperae solennes de confessore« as well as arias from operas and oratorios by Antonio Vivaldi and George Frideric Handel. Actor and chansonnier Serge Falck, known from the stages of the Theater in der Josefstadt and the Volksoper Vienna as well as from series such as »Kaisermühlen Blues« and »Vienna Blood«, will be the entertaining host of the evening.
