Sound fireworks of the organ
»The organ is a whole orchestra from which a skilful hand can ask anything, on which it can perform anything.« This quote by French writer Honoré de Balzac seems to have been formulated for Wayne Marshall's encounter with the Rieger organ of the Vienna Konzerthaus. Marshall himself describes his life as playing fortissimo, sampling the musical world from classical to jazz. His art of improvisation is particularly refined: »Finding new forms, creating something without copying anyone, dealing with music in a language of his own« gives him great pleasure, he says. In addition to masterpieces of Romantic organ literature, contemporary works such as Andrew Ager's Bach Homage and one of Marshall's own compositions will be heard.
