Delicate and strong - these seem to be contradictions. Anyone who has heard Sílvia Pérez Cruz sing knows that the two can go hand in hand. The unbelievably broad expressive spectrum of her voice ranges from gentle tones that caress our hearing organs, as it were, to flamenco-inspired ecstatic abandon. Her songs, some of which she wrote herself, whether in Spanish, Catalan or Portuguese, not only trace traditions of the Iberian peninsula, but also borrow from South America, rock, jazz and chanson. Regardless of which genre one assigns the Iberian singer to - her characteristic singing is touching.
