Highlights of the modern era

Yulianna Avdeeva is »able to let the music breathe«, the Financial Times wrote of the pianist. In 2010, she convinced the jury of the renowned Chopin Competition and was able to claim the First Prize. At the guest performance of the SWR Symphony Orchestra under its principal conductor Teodor Currentzis, she will interpret Prokofiev's Second Piano Concerto. At its premiere, the work astonished the audience with its avant-garde tonal language, an effect that Ravel's rhythmically concise Boléro also had on his listeners. The scandalous premiere of Stravinsky's »Le sacre du printemps« went down in history: Today, the work is considered one of the milestones of modern music.
