Marchfeld Blues
Norbert Schneider casts an affectionate glance at the imperfections of everyday life and conveys Viennese serenity less resignedly than casually and with a lot of charm. With his three-octave voice and semi-acoustic Gibson guitar, Schneider builds stylistic bridges between blues, soul, pop and folk. Not the slovenliness, but the intuition, the soul, the g'schlapfte rhythm of the waves at the Danube beach reign in Schneider's music – Eastern Austria in its unvarnished form and in the dialect of earlier years, as it is spoken today in eastern Lower Austria. Schneider's songs, sung in precisely this dialect, need not fear comparison with Austro-pop greats. Quite the contrary – these stand for themselves in their individual class and refuse a stylistic classification.
