Presented by Wiener Konzerthausgesellschaft

Three stars with three romantic trios

Each of them is a star as a soloist: violinist Lisa Batiashvili, cellist Gautier Capuçon and pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet. For some time now, the three have joined forces to indulge their shared love of chamber music. They showcase their outstanding skills in playing together as well as their individual strengths with a romantic programme.

From Rachmaninoff to Debussy and Dvořák

All of the works performed were written in the second half of the 19th century: Sergei Rachmaninoff's elegiac first piano trio is followed by Claude Debussy's Piano Trio in G major, composed at a young age for Tchaikovsky's great patroness, Nadezhda von Meck. Antonín Dvořák's weighty Piano Trio in F minor is on the programme in the second half of the concert. This is extremely densely composed and displays a particularly wide range of expression, from the deepest despondency to euphoric outbursts.
