Written acting with music

»What I write is written dramatic art!« said Karl Kraus. And it is precisely in this spirit that Erwin Steinhauer presents his monumental work »The Last Days of Mankind«, which was written as a direct reaction to the First World War. Karl Kraus made around 170 guest appearances at the Wiener Konzerthaus, including several readings of his most famous work. »Intonations race and rattle through time and swell into a chorale of unholy action«, reads the preface. And Erwin Steinhauer, who has been appointed Kammerschauspieler, hits every necessary note of the numerous characters from Kraus's cosmos - from coarse-ignorant to bloodless to excitedly cackling. Framed by excerpts from military and salon music, operetta hits and Heurigen songs, interpreted by Peter Rosmanith, Joe Pinkl, Georg Graf and Pamelia Stickney, the gripping performance becomes a total work of art.
