Perfect jazz in virtuosic nonchalance

The two-time Grammy-nominated jazz musician and guitar virtuoso Julian Lage tells stories without words on his instrument with a warm tone and great nonchalance. He is inspired by improvised jazz as well as singer-songwriter music, and he carefully draws from the melodic fund of American folk and country. Due to his outstanding guitar playing skills, he was considered a child prodigy at an early age. At the age of eight, he was the protagonist in the documentary film about him, »Jules at Eight«, a year later he played live with Carlos Santana, and at 15 he was already a lecturer at Stanford University. And soon Julian Lage was playing with the most prominent representatives of jazz, from Gary Burton and Jim Hall to Pat Metheny, Herbie Hancock and Fred Hersch. He comes to Vienna in a well-rehearsed trio with bassist Jorge Roeder and drummer Dave King, with whom he also recorded his last two albums »Squint« (2021) and »View With A Room« (2022).
