Musical Sea Voyage
She lives in a drum and once taught people how to make music and sing: the Afro-Brazilian goddess of music, after whom Ayom named herself. Today, the Atlantic Ocean lies between the geographical pillars of her music, Brazil, Cape Verde and Angola. But just as the continents once belonged together in ancient times, so they merge musically here. The four-nation sextet around the Brazilian singer Jabu Morales and the Italian accordionist Alberto Becucci was named the best band of 2021 by »Songlines« and will make its first guest appearance at the Wiener Konzerthaus in early December. What makes the ensemble so special? A radiant singing voice, a multi-faceted accordion, a compact rhythm section and, last but not least, a mix of Brazilian, Afro-Latin and -lusitanian sounds that has an irresistible swing. Music ahoy!
