Piano recital Krystian Zimerman
Krystian Zimerman has performed with Herbert von Karajan, Leonard Bernstein and Seiji Ozawa. He recorded Beethoven's piano concertos with Sir Simon Rattle and the London Symphony Orchestra; they remain a reference recording to this day. Krystian Zimerman, born in Poland in 1956, is one of the greats of piano music. This is reflected not only in external recognition such as numerous prizes - including the Diapason d'or, which he received for his interpretation of Claude Debussy's Préludes - but also in the dedication with which he compiles his programmes. For the 50 or so concerts that Zimerman gives each year, the pianist takes a lot of time to think about the music he will present to the audience - and turns the concert into a great moment of piano music. His Viennese audience can look forward to a colourful tour through the romantic salons - with nocturnes and the B flat minor sonata by Frédéric Chopin -, Debussy's impressionistic »Estampes« and Szymanowski's »Variations on a Polish Folk Theme« op. 10. »I love pictures almost as much as music«, Debussy once said - a passion that you can see for yourself at this concert!
