Mozartmania II

On the second evening of Kit Armstrong's »Expedition Mozart«, you will learn that his first, so-called »small« G minor symphony is not so small at all. Star director Milos Forman was so convinced by the suggestive drama of the first movement that he set it to the discovery scene of Salieri's fictitious suicide attempt at the beginning of his box-office hit »Amadeus« in 1984. In Kit Armstrong's program, Mozart's C major Piano Concerto K 467 (the one with the famous Andante that is on every »Kaminfeuerklassik« playlist) is cleverly combined with this, the first movement of which already hints for a brief moment at the main theme of the »great« G minor Symphony K 440, composed only three years later.
