Presented by Wiener Konzerthausgesellschaft

… del Wolfgango Amadeo Mozart di Salisburgo

In 1772 Mozart became the prince-archbishop's concertmaster in the city of Salzburg, which he hated. Forced to travel restlessly from an early age, he was now suddenly settled not only at the first desk of the court orchestra there, but also in a comparatively provincial metropolis, where he drew on his experiences at international courts. Between 1773 and 1775, Mozart composed - for himself - his five concertos for violin and orchestra, as well as several individual movements for this instrumentation. On two evenings, Janine Jansen and Gregory Ahss slip into the role of the concertmaster of the child prodigy and, in addition to Mozart's Fourth Violin Concerto, interpret his early »Concertone«, a festive work still very much of the concerto grosso type. The Camerata Salzburg's program is supplemented by the first symphony of the eight-year-old Mozart with its enigmatically beautiful C minor Andante as well as the G major symphony composed in The Hague in 1769, also known as the »Old Lambacher«.
