Pier Paolo Pasolini on the occasion of his 100th birthday
Stefano Gervasoni's »In nomine PPP«, composed on the occasion of the 100th birthday of Pier Paolo Pasolini, is a tribute to the work and life of the great Italian artist and intellectual and to his political and cultural role in the Italian and European society of the 1960s and 70s. Stefano Gervasoni sets Pasolini's poems and writings to music as a large cantata, which - as a »déploration pour la mort de Pier Paolo Pasolini«, so to speak - also includes melancholy interludes by Josquin Desprez. Following Pasolini's anthropological vision, the eye of the camera in Paolo Pachini's video explores poetic images of man and nature, counterpointed by contemporary media streams. In the process, the tightly interwoven interactions between music and images create a unique atmosphere in which perception is fully immersed and completely permeated. From the hybridization of languages emerges a torn but sometimes reconciliatory expression, a tribute to Pasolini's raw gaze, whose meeutic power to expose things and - especially in today's globalized world - reveals those intertwinements of modernity and tradition for which the poet was a prophet.
