Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra feat. René Marie & Akiko Tsuruga
»Jazz power & soul«
Compact big band swing, respect for tradition and an irrepressible desire for the playful moment – the Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra is a musical power station!
Big bands are usually led by pianists or wind players. However, the fact that a jazz orchestra is led by the rhythm section, i.e. a community of bassist and drummer, is the absolute exception. This exceptional case is called Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra and already says a lot about the dynamics of the formation.
Joining them is René Marie, ranked by the Los Angeles Times as one of the best contemporary jazz singers and also active as a composer, arranger, theater performer and teacher. Together with her and the young Japanese Hammond organist Akiko Tsuruga, the Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra breaks a bit in the direction of soul jazz.
