Colorful Orchestral Paintings
Valery Gergiev is convinced that you don't have to be a magician to create fairy tale narratives out of Russian Romantic works. After all, Russia is richly blessed with composers who knew how to tell stories with sounds and create colorful orchestral paintings. On the podium of the Wiener Philharmoniker, the maestro will once again prove this by virtue of his charismatic authority and electrifying energy with Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov's monumental symphonic suite »Scheherazade«. Gergiev contrasts the Russian sound painting with the one by French impressionists Claude Debussy and Maurice Ravel.
