Martin Walser takes a satirical look at society in the 1950s in his
debut novel »Marriages in Philippsburg«. Hans Beumann, the novel's main
character, forms an intersection of various big- and small-town milieus.
Jörg Ratjen, who returned to the Vienna Burgtheater for the 2024/25
season, reads from Martin Walser's novel, while Anton Gerzenberg focuses
on modern music by Janáček, Prokofiev and a later work by Pierre
Boulez.
