Festival Resonanzen »Die Planeten«

Presented by Wiener Konzerthausgesellschaft

»Uranus«

This year's dinner concert is dedicated to Uranus, the father of the Furies. The discovery of this seventh planet of our solar system on March 13, 1781 by William Herschel already lies outside the »regular resonance framework« in the deepest musical classicism. But Herschel's own compositional activity falls into the time about 20 years before his epochal observation, when Joseph Haydn was just living out his »Sturm und Drang« period in Esterháza. Leo Duarte's furious Opera Settecento also arrives in the cast size of the »Esterházy band« and will sweep the audience off its feet with early classical instrumental music. Cheers! Bon appétit!
