Resonanzen opening

We are unusually well informed about the genesis of Lully's »Atys« through letters of an anonymous contemporary witness; about an enormous expenditure of personnel and means, tumultuous rehearsals and downright hysteria, which this later favorite opera of the Sun King triggered at court. Without the spectacular scenic element, Lully's dramatic power and delicate art of orchestration cast an even stronger spell! This is the first complete performance ever of one of his »Tragédies en musique« at the Vienna Konzerthaus!
