A Journey Through Time For All The Senses

»Orlando« is perhaps Virginia Woolf's most personal book. The fictional biography of a young aristocrat is a covert declaration of love to her friend Vita Sackville-West and it is above all a book that shows the great English author from an experimental and playful side. The main character, Orlando, travels agelessly and with imperishable beauty from the 16th to the 20th century, changing her life plans as well as her gender identity. With virtuoso linguistic creative power, Virgina Woolf creates images of unheard-of urgency. Musically accompanied by violinist Michael Barenboim and pianist Eloïse Bella Kohn, actress Johanna Wokalek brings the most diverse times and worlds of »Orlando« to life in a way that is as touching as it is entertaining, and invites us to experience Orlando's eventful history with all our senses.
