Legends and Songs
In the summer of 2021, Herbert Pixner, multi-instrumentalist, composer and figurehead of progressive folk music, unexpectedly appeared at a concert by Ursula Strauss and Ernst Molden and spontaneously performed together with the two Viennese audience favorites. The audience and all those involved liked this so much that immediately after the concert the idea was born to set up a joint project. No sooner said than done: the songwriter, author and dramaturge Ernst Molden wrote songs that combine legends and myths from the homeland of the musicians involved - of King Laurin's rose garden, for example, or of the dangerous basilisk in Vienna and of water sprites that can lurk in any fire pond - in a musically contemporary context. The resulting album »Oame Söö« (»Poor Soul«) was released last spring, and in January 2023 the program can now be experienced live for the first time in Vienna. Along with Strauss, Molden and Pixner, the exceptional musician Maria Petrova (drummer with Das Frauenorchester and the Wiener Tschuschenkapelle) and »devil's guitarist« Manuel Randi are also part of the party.
