Ewald André Dupont's "The Old Law" from 1923 is a classic of Weimar cinema. The story about a young rabbi's son named Baruch, who wants to become an actor against his father's will, takes us on an adventurous journey. Baruch's path leads from a small Galician Stetl via a windy traveling theater to the Vienna Burgtheater. The Stiftung Deutsche Kinemathek, with the collaboration of numerous European and US archives, is responsible for the newly reconstructed version of "The Old Law". Inspired by the expressive film images, Philippe Schoeller composed music for 12-piece ensemble. In the concert, the Jewish Chamber Orchestra Munich, conducted by Daniel Grossmann, accompanies Baruch on his way to stage stardom on the stage of all stages.
