Presented by Wiener Konzerthausgesellschaft

At the end of October, Teodor Currentzis will show that he not only has a sense of the lofty and the sublime but also for the playful and the grotesque: alongside Prokofiev’s »Symphonie classique«, bursting with dreamy joviality, the almost classical comedy of Shostakovich’s Second Piano Concerto will be on the programme. And to end the evening: Shostakovich’s Ninth Symphony, an ironic, even satirical work, provocatively unpompous.
